18th ifva Festival Opening Gala Highlights

The 18th ifva festival kicks off with the Media Art Exhibition, featuring 2 works by Daito Manabe (one of the most highly regarded among new media artists in Japan) and seven finalist works in the 18th ifva Awards Interactive Media Category by local new media artists. The same opening night sees the shorts by two focusing artist/director in our festival – Adventures of Tom Tomiczky” by legendary Hungarian computer animation master Tamas Waliczky and CHIRI/Trace by world-renowned Japanese director Naomi Kawase.Tamas Waliczky showed up in the screening as well to greet the audience.

Showcasing experimental images is the highlight of ifva this year. Two opening films of the 18th ifva Festival – “Adventures of Tom Tomiczky” by legendary Hungarian computer animation master Tamas Waliczky and “CHIRI/Trace” by world-renowned Japanese director Naomi Kawase, showcase how the directors bravely blend experimental techniques into animation and documentary to let the audience experience their self-emotions and relationships with their beloved one.
