“Indie is…” Hong Kong independent short films 1995 – 2014
Free Admission, Seat Reservation is needed

Two outdoor screenings of “Indie is…” short film series have been successfully conducted at the main entrance of Hong Kong Arts Centre and Ta Kwu Ling Ping Yeung Village. With more than 60 selected gold awarded short films will be featured, “Indie is…” screening series aim to bring independent cinema to different districts and communities in Hong Kong, and to spark fruitful discussions.

The finalist works of 20th ifva Awards are certainly not to be missed, the juries’ recommendation of non-finalist works are also worth checking out. All the finalist works as well as the juries’ recommendation will be screened in March. To allow more in depth exchanges between directors and audiences, we have arranged all the finalist works of each competition category to be screened together each time; for the same ticket price despite the lengthened duration! “Visceral Cinema: VR and Physical Interaction” and Post-Production Colour Grading Workshops


“Visceral Cinema: VR and Physical Interaction” workshop will introduce the newly developed Oculus Rift which is a hamlet-like display device that offers 3D vision and is synced with the user’s head movements. Together with the cross-platform freeware Unity, and the Leapmotion controller which follows movements of the fingers, workshop participants will author a virtual reality scenario and explore various forms of cinematic viscerality.
