The 21st ifva Award Presentation Ceremony Results Announcement!
Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and sponsored by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the 21st ifva Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held at the agnès b. Cinema in Hong Kong Arts Centre on 5 March. The competition was fierce with a recording breaking number of 1,062 entries. Rounds after rounds of jury discussions selected 20 winners from 5 categories (Open Category, Youth Category, Media Art Category, Animation Category, Asian New Force Category). Results were announced on 5/3 with attending guest-of-honours including jury members: Hong Kong esteemed and prolific producer Shi Nan-sun, renowned local director Wong Sau-ping Adam, founder of TVMost and 100Most Roy Tsui, Oscar awardee in documentary Ruby Yang, award-winning Pilipino filmmaker Lav Diaz, renowned Malaysian filmmaker Lim Kah-waiand distinguished representative sponsors. Where's People, Where is Cinema. ifva explores the limitations of outdoor screening places. The March screening of People’s Cinema – Open-air Screening of Jockey Club ifva Everywhere will be showing three short films close to the everyday lives of Hong Kong people: The Secret Taste by Adam Wong, Merry X’mas by Jevons Au and Homecoming by Zune Kwok. Transactions of Desire explores our emotional responses against the demands of society. The eight short films question what really motivate our intimate relationships and actions. This screening includes 2 short films Breathe in/Breathe out and An Emo Nose, which is produced by our ifva talents Tsang Tsui-shan Jessey (Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Director) and Wong Ping (Gold Award winner of Animation category in the 18th ifva Awards) respectively.
